Description
- Type: CUSTOMER
- Severity: NOTICE
- Protection against: HUMAN ERROR
- CIS: -
This Customer Check verifies if any changes have been made to the MX record of the email domains for which the tenant receives mail.
Why this check?
The Mail Exchange (MX) record in DNS determines how email addressed to your domain should be delivered. If this setting is incorrect, email can end up in the wrong hands. Typically, the settings of the MX record rarely change. Therefore, it is sensible to thoroughly review any change that occurs, hence this check. An incorrect adjustment is usually the result of a mistake but can also indicate a malicious and deliberate action.
What are the possible outcomes of the check?
This check has two possible outcomes. In Attic, this is reflected as follows:
- Okay: The MX record has not changed since the last time the script ran.
- Notice: The MX record has changed since the last time.
How should this be followed up?
If the output is Notice , we advise reviewing the change carefully and checking for any errors. We will share the details of the change with you via a Ticket.
