This Customer Check attempts to determine if Microsoft Exchange is scanning incoming emails for malware.
Why this check?
Malware often enters through email. Microsoft Exchange can block this, and it makes sense to use that feature. However, a malware detection can also be an indicator that more is going on. Therefore, it is wise not to simply discard those emails, but to archive them for further analysis.
What are the possible outcomes of the check?
This check has two possible outcomes. In Attic, this is reflected as follows:
- Okay: The policy to scan emails for malware is correctly configured
- Error: In this case, the policy to scan emails for malware is not active
How should this be followed up?
If the output is Error , we recommend enabling the policy to scan emails for malware.
